Oblique Strategies Choreographic Workshop
In this workshop, participants are led through a choreographic process based on Oblique Strategies. Oblique Strategies are a deck of cards created by musician Brian Eno and visual artist Peter Schmidt in 1975. Each card contains a prompt, suggestion, or problem to solve, and they were originally used by musicians and visual artists to promote creative thinking and break through creative blocks. Although not originally intended to be physically embodied, participants in this workshop use the Strategies to experiment with solo and group compositions. No choreographic experience necessary!

Exploring Generative AI and Dance-Making
In this workshop, participants experiment with prompting generative Artificial Intelligence tools to yield useful choreographic or improvisational directives. Working with best practices in prompt-engineering, we examine how AI tools can be used to encourage new ideas for movement in generating individual or group explorations. With the goal for AI to inspire the human, not replace the human, we engage in an open discussion about the ways in which we might dialogue about appropriate AI use and the ethical dangers in using these tools. This workshop incorporates both movement and discussion.
A contemporary modern class focusing on efficiency of movement, range of motion, musicality, and having a good time. A thorough warm-up, technical exercises, improvisational explorations, and noodly floorwork culminate in dynamic and expressive phrases embracing ownership of movement and performance quality.

Dance Composition
This class will explore principles of the choreographic process and enable each dancer to create a study of their own. We will focus on movement invention and manipulation techniques so that all students can express their unique artistic voices and exercise their creativity.
Dance Improvisation is the study of making spontaneous movement choices. We will explore various approaches to spontaneously creating movement in solo, partner, and group forms. All you need is an open mind and a willingness to play!
