Synopsis: In the Weeds reflects a nostalgic look into the past and a thanksgiving, in many ways, for the gift of every day, for the things we have in our lives, the things we’ve done, the people we’ve known. St. Francis de Sales reminds us to “Kindle your gratitude.” This piece is a memory, a reflective thanksgiving for time spent and lost. Dressed in the green of leaves that have yet to wither, we look back on the past and become lost in the reverie, filled with gratitude for the gifts in our lives. In the final lines of her poem The Summer Day, Mary Oliver asks of us, “Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon? Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
