Synopsis: The Culture of the Sky is an abstract female duet that seeks to explore the visceral response to the way the color and texture of the sky changes before or after a massive, destructive event or act of nature. Playing on the word “culture” to reflect both anthropological and biological definitions, this piece examines the correlation between the birth and death of a day and the birth and death of a human – what color is our personal sky throughout our lifetime and how/why does it change? The dancers weave through the stage space while supporting, assisting, or dragging each other around, searching for commonality amidst an innately personal experience.
