Synopsis: City Birds takes a look at the movement and behavior of birds and attempts to uncover the similarities in human movement and behavior. Primarily concerned with the ideas of migration, adaptation, and the “flock,” City Birds was originally influenced and inspired by the differences between birds that live in urban versus suburban or rural environments. Throughout the piece, five women learn to adapt to changes in their lives on their quest for survival as they flutter, perch, and soar through the space. Research materials in preparation for creating City Birds provided by Dr. Daniel Klem Jr, Professor of Ornithology at Muhlenberg College.
